B. Sc Nautical Science Course is three years residential programme, structured into Six academic semesters. It is a course leading to Second Mate's Foreign-Going Certificate of Competency awarded by the D.G. Shipping after 12 months of Sea Service, Enabling the cadets to become Navigating officers on board Merchant Navy Ships worldwide.

ELIGIBILITY:

Passed+2 with an average mark of 60% in PCM and 50% marks in English either in class 10th or +2.

MEDICAL STANDARD:

Candidate should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness. Minimum height should be 157 centimetres.
 

TRAINING AT CMC:

The course is designed to provide a solid foundation in Navigation, Mechanics, Cargo Work and Practical Seamanship & to impart a comprehensive foundation in the fundamental nautical sciences. The curriculum also focuses on the specialised knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects with an emphasis on those skills and competencies that are required for Navigation, Cargo operations and Ship Maintenance & Operations. The essence of Nautical Science programme is to train students to become competent deck officers in the maritime environment, capable of managing navigational and cargo work duties.The training also includes the development of competency in verbal communication, safety culture in the maritime environment and important aspects of shipping. The cadets are inculcated with a sense of discipline, team spirit and the right attitude with a lot of physical and mental activities.
 

CAREER PATH:

After the completion of the course, the cadets will be issued with the CDC, INDoS No., Course Completion and Degree Certificate. The cadets will join the Ship as a Deck Cadet.
